I beg to acknowledge receipt of your despatch (No.1/58) of the 30th ultimo, replying to the Chamber's letter of the 12th idem, on the subject of the difficulty of procuring ballast and the delays attending the same.

The Committee are glad to learn that His Excellency the Governor has given instructions to secure the prompter issue of permits, and also that the question of quarrying for stone ballast is engaging the attention of the Government.
